Answer: Just as ordinary as the rest of the people.

It's as simple as that. Of course the fetishist has some personal differences comparing to some other people. But if you examine a fetishist by habitus, manners, intelligence, habits, gender, age, marital status, family background, religion, political views or any other they aren't making so clear combinations that you could clearly declare fetishists to be similar people belonging to same caste. Fetishists are individuals as the rest of the people.

Some people see fetishists as freaks who cannot be understood because they crave something that is kept weird among the majority. We live in a world where majority is kept as normal. That normal is the thing people look up and try to achieve themselves too. If someone differs from the normal it is sometimes kept as a little deviance that could be accepted among the normality. But sometimes different people may also be seen so weird that they make people reserved and even avoiding that difference. This may be a natural reaction for human towards something that he cannot understand. But in some cases this is also a first reaction which should be moved aside to break prejudices and further opinions created in ones mind.
  
Fetishism isn't the most common and acknowledged feature for people which makes it a feature to be not in majority but in minority. When a feature belongs in the minority it should be observed, studied and tried to be understood. This would be the way how it could be understood and accepted. But if people look up only to majority where everything should follow certain trends we can state that they never can see minorities belonging among their picture of normal people.

So I'd say that normality of fetishist is in individuals minds just as about normality of every other minority. It is up to you if you try to understand fetishist or not.

But of course I encourage you to try and understand minorities even if you couldn't understand the subject at first or even after that. We are all different in this world despite all the things that are kept in majority or minority. We can never accept each other if we don't even try to.

So fetishists are a minority who love and need their fetishes. This is the only exception from the majority I can mention. Otherwise fetishists are just as ordinary citizens out there like everyone else. This is why fetishists could be accepted quite easily.

But if someone finds out about someone that he / she is a fetishist it can be sensitive and even flammable subject. To avoid any hasty opinions or actions I suggest people try to learn about this before making judgements. Because what changes after all if someone really is a fetishist? How would it make someone to be worse person?

Fetishism is nowadays still a little taboo. It is kept lewd and frown upon even though it isn't illegal or anything bad. This is the phenomenon I'd love to blow to smithereens because fetishism could be a happy, accepted and fun thing instead of judgements. This way fetishists could be understood better and they wouldn't face so much negative reactions. For being slightly different.

Fetishists are normal people among all of us. They may just like something that would need a bit understanding from the non-fetishists.
